Stable Tours (jumps - 2023/4)

I thought it was interesting that the RP site the other day highlighted (why isn't it 'highlit'?) Steal A March and Hendo's comments about its being unable to run in the Pertemps Final.

The tour item suggests it will stay over hurdles so I wonder how they'll campaign it.

It's 134 over hurdles. That would get it comfortably into the final again but it would probably need to be a 145-ish horse to actually win, so competitive is that race. But Hendo knows that and he had Mill Green, which was top on my figures for the race, one pound ahead of the winner Good Time Jonny, so can we assume that SAM is around 145?

Then there's likely progression into this season, which could be another [notional] 7-10lbs. Does that mean he can allow the horse to pick up some decent money along the way and get up to about 141 and still have [potentially] a winning chance?

But what if they send it chasing instead? I again allow hurdlers a notional 10lbs improvement into their first season over fences so it could pick up some average novice chases and end up getting into the festival handicaps off a good mark.

You just never know with Hendo...
