All the startup files on my daughters laptop are on D drive, and she is starting to have problems at start up.

A friend has told her that her D drive is very nearly full and could be the cause of the problems.

Could anyone tell me how to increase its size?

Thanks in anticipation - MR2

The C Drive is the main hard disk. This is where you will install and save most of your programs. On my comp. the D drive is used for the backup files and restore files for the computer. This is used if you get into a bind and need to completely restore you computer to the way it was when you bought it from the store. Of course if you do that, you will lose all of the files you have put on the C drive since you used it. Unless you have backed up your computer between then and when you go to restore it. Which if you do, it will be saved on the D drive. You should not use D or save anything to D. Hope this helps.

Last month there was a Trojan linked on a windows update which affected the booting patterns of Vista pc's. It was an update on Microsoft Office 07, if your daughters computer has that, it could have been an issue. I presume give u started the thread a month ago, you now have it fixed.

She tells me the problem has 'gone away.' If it was this trojan should it have gone away?

I'll tell her to see if files are being saved on her D-drive and if so I'll try to prevent that happening.

She also says that there might have been a battery problem as well and this might have affected start up.

Thanks for the inputs, she's having a long weekend at home so I'll try to get my mits on her laptop.
