Suspect they're now regretting running Klassical Dream, rather than sending him to Cheltenham as a fresh horse.

I'd actually be surprised if he turns up at the Festival after that.

I did think KD was a prime candidate not to run his race today.

He might be backable now for the Stayers' Hurdle :)

I just watched the race just now. He never raised a gallop when headed... They adopted front running tactic thinking today was easy pickings and made too much use of him.

5/1 with a change of tactics he could be the bet of the meeting

Having given it some thought, I think Klassical Dream is a bust. His last two wins are off breaks of 243 and 487 days. He had only 30 days since Leopardstown and now has 48 days to get back to peak and even then I'm not sure he'd win. You couldn't bet him at 6/1.

Adherents to the 'bounce' theory might disagree. It would suggest today's run be totally ignored so - in theory - KD has 78 days in which to get back to form.

So it's not the minimum 8 moths suggested but the 'bounce' theory itself works on the basis of 42 days after a peak performance.

I'm not convinced the 'bounce' theory is in play here; I'm leaning more towards the idea that there was no intention for it to win today. Its win last time was a big deal for all concerned. The next big deal is mid-March.

He ran beyond bad today. I think he's gone.

Thoughts on Flooring Porter? Interested in your thoughts as a proper gambler rather than one who likes a flutter like me.

I just can’t have Champ and contrary to some I think that was Thyme Hills best showing when Champ had him held at Ascot.

Flooring Porter is a bit of a head case but a hugely talented one. I'm not sure I see much change in the betting between here and March. Right now I'd favour 4/1 or better Flooring Porter.

Agree.

Without trying to sound ‘shrood’ think Melon could actually be a bet in this race now. 33s available and Willies already mentioned it in an interview earlier in the year this could be a target.

Can anyone name a horse that has switched this late to the Stayers snd been successful?

That has got to be very doubtful most winner are pretty well known

Can anyone name a norther trainer who has won the the race or a Northern based jockey that has won it.....as far as I know there has never been a single one and entries in the past have been very scarce

This year there are zero entries north of Wolverhampton again
