How can Saturday live up to my Friday festivities? Orbaan:D:D:D

It will definitely feel like the day after the Lord Mayor's show for me but I've got three to do with nice prices and fair chances, too.

I always have a second look when canny old Goldie sends one down south and I'm tempted by one I noted in running a couple of races ago:

Euchlan Glen - 2.10 Goodwood 20/1 Ew

Yes, I know, an 8yo: been there, done it. Let's not forget, though, how Mr Goldie has quite often been seen to surprise with some old stagers. EG's run at York in a listed event behind Without A Fight over this distance was a good effort, I thought and he put his best work in come the post so this handicap holds no fears for me off his current OR of 102. His price looks too good to pass up.

I could fancy another top weight, too, in Chil Chil in the Steward's. After all, he's been running in top class and acquitting himself well, I think. He was only beaten 2 3/4L in last year's Gp 1 Nunthorpe, for goodness sake. You won't find many of that calibre here so he has the class to make a very bold show, to my mind. My man O'Meara has one that ran well against Chil Chil in last season's Betfair sprint at Haydock (Gp1) and gets weight tomorrow and that is Summerghand but he does have to be ridden from the rear, this one and in this big field, that could be a problem. Blew out in this last year, too, after missing the break.

There is another, mind, who has run against Chil Chil before and has run some cracking top class races, too and that's Saint Lawrence. If we notice that he ran Rohaan to 1L last season at level weights (6f) and Khadem to 1L at levels (5f), we might raise an eyebrow to see him in here carrying 9-7 and sitting on 20/1. The run before last he ran in the King's Stand over 5f (Gp 1) and although well beaten, he was noted doing his best work at the finish. This might suggest that his 9-7 in this handicap could be an underestimation of his abilities. So, with that i mind:

Saint Lawrence - 3.20 Goodwood 20/1 Ew

Lastly:

Woven - 4.55 Thirsk 16/1 Ew

Here's one that was noted the run before last at York (Cl 3 OR 88), when he made nice late headway (You'll like that form, Goughs, since the winner was Northern Express at levels) Tomorrow, he's down to 85 (LWR 93) and I reckon the price is silly enough to entice me in Ew.

So, there you go. Naturally, I'm expecting not a lot after a day like today but I do believe I can make a case for these and it's good sport, innit?

3 x Ew singles

Ew Trixie

Good luck.

yup.

He would have won, for sure.

You were right about Stone Of destiny being mullered, too.

As you say the pain
