I'm so glad I don't watch this stuff.

I don't watch X-Factor or any of that kind of sh*te and am eternally grateful to BM for pointing me in the direction of Rage Against The Machine (w/o X-Factor winner).

I'm very unpopular in the Orchid household because I 'supported' a song full of profanity and in effect opposed nice, clean cut Catholic boy-next-door Joe.

I can live with the unpopularity. I'm not the worst offender. Apparently the BBC is. Both Mrs O and Orchidette are spitting blood that the Beeb hasn't played Joe since last week - at least not when they've been listening, which totals about 5 minutes per day.

Now BBC boy Chris has won 'Strictly', 'just because he works for the BBC' and possibly because he's doinking Carol the weatherwoman (which I don't believe for a nano-second, but maybe that's because I wish she was doinking me).

It's all a BBC anti-ITV plot.

I've watched Strictly since the start of the series and I can assure you that the BEEB weren't biased in favour of Chris Hollins. They won (despite him being a noticably inferior dancer than his opponent) because he and Ola were a more likeable couple and had better chemistry.

I'd like to think they haven't been playing the X Factor no mark's single because it's shit. He was quoted in the Sun today saying Rage... wouldn't get to Boot Camp because they "shout"
Talentless turd.

I don't think you'll find that Caruso, Gigli, Ferrier, Bjorling, Callas, Pavarotti et al wrote their own 'material', either, but I don't think they've been called talentless. Neither most of the Blues greats, or vast swathes of popdom. I don't think you'll find penning 'fuck' in any amount of variations constitutes the pinnacle of song-writing greatness, Euro.

Has he written any songs?

Sinatra or Elvis wrote few if any of their songs (certainly the major hits) and they cannot be called talentless. Not song writers but clearly have a talent weither it be vocally or in terms of entertainment value etc.

Your point escapes me. Most of my favourite artists have never relied on profanity.

Fair point, but those two had a uniqueness about them, both vocally and as characters, Mr kareoke man has neither. In five years time will anyone be able to pick out his voice from hundreds of other production line robots with pretty faces?

He's not talentless but it was most certainly rigged. You only need to look at the way they altered the voting system mid-event to see that.

Chris and Ola where at best the third best couple dancing wise in the competition - didn't the BBC ask John Sergeant to leave when it became clear he was being voted for on the grounds of popularity rather than ability?

It speaks volumes that the only "10" that Chris and Ola got was from the only judge who isn't technically qualified to judge.

JS left of his own accord i think..would have been a clear winner..which begs question..what is the point of it being a competition?..or even..what is the point of it?:p

Regarding Strictly, I haven't been following that closely but I gather that Chris Hollins was well aware that he wasn't as talanted as a dancer as Ricky Whittle however, at the end of the day it's come down to who's the most popular with the viewers I guess which is usually what happens with X-Factor as well. The ongoing drive to get RATM to no 1 makes me think that a better measure of the X-Factor winners popularity/talent would be to have their first single released say six months or so after the show's ended and see if they still get the public backing then once all the hype has died down. Probably won't ever happen as releasing a single straight away is more likely to mean money for Simon Cowell's pocket before the winner fades into obscurity.

They received five 10s for their Charleston so that makes all the judges unqualified. As in previous years, it is not the best dancer who won, it is the one the public liked more.
