All prices with Corals. Any early fancies? I think the King George market is likely change a lot. For instance Soldier Of Fortune is far more likely to turn up in this than the mare Peeping Fawn while I couldn’t have the Dubai winner as the favourite.

Very interesting markets. Can anyone tell me why Cesare is favourite for the Lockinge? absolutely bizarre.

Phoenix Tower is interesting if he runs in the lockinge.

Soldier of Fortune and Ask look good prices for the King George.

Over a mile and 10f the older horses look a really weak bunch. In fact the Golden Jubilee looks a far stronger race than the PoW at the moment. Weird.

Stand out prices for me:

Ask 12/1 KG
Finsceal Beo 16/1 Lockinge

Septimus should be favourite for the Gold Cup and i`m sure i saw a tempting 7/2 somewhere.

The Lockinge looks particularly dire and I agree with Euro that the price about Finsceal Beo is the most attractive.

Perhaps the only thing that would redeem it would be an authoritative performance from Duke of Marmalade.

Andrew, I take your point about Cesare. At 7 he's hardly open to much improvement but twice last year he finished 1 and 1/4 lengths behind Ramonti which is the best mile form there is and there's no Ramonti in the race, hence the 6/1.

Early days but I'll put up Fleeting Spirit 14s for the K. Stand
Ask 12s for K. George
and Soldier's Tale for a repeat in G. Jub. at 14/1 ??

Yes, but using collateral form with Ramonti is dangerous as he's not the sort prone to wide-margin wins, impressive as he may be.

depends on how you view it - as with Moscow Flyer, I would see that as being a factor that would result in a rating lower than he is capable of if push came to shove. The horses behind shouldn't be affected imo?

Has there been much/any interest in these markets yet tdk? Or do they only really pick up after the Guineas/Derby?

I'm not a bookies PR man, so I can tell the truth

They have indeed been quiet so far although we have laid a couple of decent bets - the biggest being on Sakhee's Secret in the Golden Jubilee at 6-1.

We go up with the races to whet people's appetite for the flat season as much as anything else and interest usually picks up when horses have a run under their belt and are definitely targeted at the various races.

Can't believe anyone wants to back a horse for serious money not knowing ground conditions etc, and i can't believe anyone in their right mind would want to back this one knowing what happened at Haydock

Corals, Laddies etc must LOVE IT

I can't believe anyone with a genuine interest in racing could back a UK sprinter knowing that Absolute Champion, etc. will be coming over and if they don't the price is unlikely to get much shorter.

Things must be quiet in these markets, I see Corals have now priced up the 2 year old Queen Mary at Ascot already!

Yeats 5/2

Generous price for the Gold Cup.

This time last year he was closer to even money for the same race and the only danger to him this year would be Septimus. Connections are keen to win it for the third time so Septimus would be a unlikely runner assuming all is well with Yeats.

If they didn`t run Septimus for that reason it would be a very tainted win and furthermore i would expect a stony silence in the winners enclosure (not realistic i know)

Ascot ground gets very firm, Septimus did not come out of his race well at Doncaster after running on it..hence the reason he didn’t reappear.

Some talk about Septimus going for the Yorkshire Cup.

I would think they would keep him and Yeats separated thru the summer and then go head to head in the Irish St Leger.

A word of warning about Finsceal Beo -the owner was interviewed on local radio during the week and he said it would be The Curragh next with a trip to France during the summer.

I love the stayers' races and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Carte Diamond back in action over here.
He was away in Aus so long, he almost comes into the category of 'unexposed' now!

Does anyone know will Duke of Marmalade be going for the Lockinge? Definitely has enough class, and he strikes me as one who could very well turn consistent performances at 3 into a Group 1 win or two at four.
