Well and truly here now. Absolutely cracking day in Yorkshire today. Girls at work have the sleeves up hoping to get a tan through the window...

Let's hope it stays this way.

Indeed. Lovely here in London and have had after work pints on my mind since about 8.30.

Not quite... hot and sunny start to the morning, all over by 1 pm, turning to grey skies and a chill wind. By the 4th race at Brighton, back to some blue and a coy re-emergence of the sun, which had obviously bogged off up north for an afternoon quickie, the durrty beast.

The sun has no time for southern softies. Innit bruv.

Was gorgeous up here all day today. Sitting on the patio as I speak and still gorgeous.

off all this week..its been grand here..did lose it after lunch but it came back nice agin late afto

hope it continues..a few beers whilst sat in garden is heaven

Fast forward 20 hours and I'm deep in the wintry depths of hangover hell with no end in sight. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Have to say, mind, it was glorious all day yesterday up here. Walked back to the flat from work with my jacket slung over my shoulder.

A bit duller today but that stubborn chilliness seems to have left us for the time being at least.

EC1 - you come dahn sarf, mate, and spend a mid-February outdoors for six hours at Plumpton! I'll give you southern softies! Bloody Arctic, it fair is.

Red hot today at Lingfield, although when I got back to Brighton, my chum who's staying in the flat said a sea fret had come in, and it had got so chilly she'd closed the windows! So much for the sunny south coast... sigh...

Phew... scorchio! And I'll be in our new-ish, dust-ridden entrance at Lingfield instead of starting on the all-new exercise programme of hearty walks along the seafront. At least the mini-gravel kitty litter looks a bit like sand...

Warm here but still a little hazy looking over the East Anglian Heights toward Royston. I went to a boot sale at Baldock earlier and didn't really want to come back inside.

I've no intention of complaining about the heat. I'm happy to enjoy it while it lasts even if it does mean I have to pitch camp in the living room overnight as it's 27C in my bedroom with the windows open (and the heating off!)

The patio furniture made its seasonal debut today and mother-in-law shot up the rails into the prime pozzie. There must be a bit of German in her.

Twenty-eight of your finest Celcius in Auld Reekie today, with a gentle breeze, and a cloudless, azure sky overhead. Very rare indeed for May, and most welcome.

The afternoon will be spent in the garden, and the evening will be spent gorging on barbequed nose-bag, and guzzling concoctions to make the mind boggle.

If this is the consequence of global warming, I might knock the recycling on the head for a bit.

The plan here is to eat out in the garden. Spag bol, salad, garlic bread (cue wife and daughter doing Peter Kay), sangria, etc.

I intend to slope off in time for the Champions League final. The San Miguel is in the freezer chilling down.

Having said all that, mother-in-law lasted about ten minutes this afternoon before coming back in looking as though she'd been dragged through a hedge backwards and claiming it was too breezy.

28 degrees at the Curragh today and the sponsors supplied coats to the grooms before the big race. They must have been melting by the time the race started.

It was cruel putting them in that - great day at The Curragh and they got a good crowd. Burnt to a crisp now mind.

are these the hotetst May days on record?

its been 29 here both days..like a bloody oven door open..not a nice clean heat..just like shoving your head near a warm stuffy oven

need to be near the sea on days like this..inland its too much..daren't complain though :)

Gorgeous weekend. Nice breeze today as well.

Apparently it's meant to be more of the same tomorrow and then back to normal. Will probably be snow on the ground by Friday!
