One of the things i hate most about this country is the way most things seem concentrated in London. It amazed me when Great Leighs won the right to open the newest racehorse in the country despite the fact that London racegoers are fairweather fodder at best. And now the shitheap known as the Dome is the front runner to be given the first "Super Casino" license. If it gets it, i would presume the other candidates would appeal given that Prescott has his grubby mitts all over it.

And one of the things that I hate is the way in which anything south of Leighton Buzzard is referred to as "London".

Great Leighs is, in fact, in excess of 50 miles from London. The distance between Manchester and Liverpool , though it's a journey that residents of either city wouldn't take by choice, unless football related, is 34 miles. Yet I have never come across anyone talking about the Grand National being run in Manchester.

Nah, I have my Tom Tom now Krizon so I binned my map! :P

I heard one of my staff booking a job to go to Frankfurter in Germany the other day. I kid you not. Do they not teach basic European geography in schools anymore? Even when he was corrected he still didn't realise why some in the office were falling about laughing.

But London is not where Great Leighs is at!
For London read South East then, same difference.

And London IS NOT where it`s at:

The best racecourses are in York and Cheltenham
The best curry houses are in Bradford and Manchester
The best Footie teams are in the North West
The best looking women (in my experience) are in Leeds
The best scenery is in North Wales, Scotland and the Lake District

Best football teams in the North West??? 3 of the top 5 last year in the Premiership are from London. 2 are from the North West.

And Birmingham has the best curry houses in the country.

Fair enough on the curry houses, i`ve never been to the place.

Footie wise, form is temporary - class is permanent.

League Titles won:
London 17 - 44 Manchester/Liverpool

European Cups:
London 0 - 7 Manchester/Liverpool

My point precisely - you can only give an opinion based on wherever you have been

And you might both be surprised that according to at least one professional and one of the better known food-guides the best Indian style restaurant is within a mile and a half of Epsom racecourse!

Up until last year, there was a curry house in Harborne (2 miles from here) with a Michelin star but they have lost it now. Still fantastic stuff though!

Ok ok, i was born in Rusholme which i believe has the most curry houses per square mile than anywhere in the UK. So make it most rather than best then.

I'm not really sure why a debate on where the super-casino should be has desended into childish north-south divide bickering, but I have 2 points to make...

1) If I was to open a super-casino, I would want to do so in an area that is densely populated and swarming with tourists. Therefore, London would be my first preference.

2) Anyone born south of the Tyne is a pansy.

I am familiar with Rusholme. I refuse to be rude about the place in public. But according to my research the highest density of curry houses in the UK are located in The Midlands with Leicester taking the 'Curry Crown'. For every square mile you can find two curry houses in Leicester, and Nottingham is just behind, with over a third (34%) and a quarter (24%) respectively of all restaurants having a curry theme.

I take your point, but the fact that Haydock usually outdraws Sandown on Eclipse day would suggest to me that a super casino in Blackpool wouldn`t have any trouble pulling the punters in.

We're back to Great Leighs being in London again. The road distance between Haydock and Blackpool is 43 miles!

Incidentally, the Haydock race crowds and attendances at St Helens rugby league matches were used by St Helens council in their own application for a super-casino licence.

If they get it I think I'll still stick to Las Vegas.
