Suspensions overhaul on cards

A MAJOR overhaul of suspensions may be on the cards following a meeting between jockeys and the sport's regulators at Wincanton racecourse on Monday called in the aftermath of a run of high-profile bans at the Cheltenham Festival.
Among the proposals being given serious consideration is that any Flat jockey floutingthe rules in a Group 1 race would automatically sit out the next Group 1 event in which he or she had an intended mount. A comparable punishment, though less easily defined, would apply in jump racing.
