Predatory Pricer is his name, and he won the Listed Ming Dynasty Quality at Rosehill yesterday in only his 4th career start. He has only been racing for 6 weeks, and it looks like he is a stayer in the making and not a sprinter like his much more famous 1/2 brother

Here is the story from www.racenet.com.au

Predatory Pricer comes out of his big brother's shadow

Predatory Pricer has come out of his half brother Takeover Target’s shadow with a milestone win for trainer Paul Murray in $100,000 Listed Ming Dynasty Quality Handicap (1400m) at Rosehill today.

Having his first start since finishing sixth behind Desuetude with blazing closing sectionals in the Run To The Rose on August 16, Predatory Pricer sat back in the field, finding clear running with Caymans in the straight, edging out the Kerrin McEvoy-steered gelding with Dreamscape running on out wide for third.
An elated Murray spoke of Predatory Pricer’s improvement, describing the former “big, dumb” galloper as a future Derby horse.

“He’s shown us ability from day one, he’s just been an improver and you can’t say much more about him.
“He’ll run in the Gloaming and the Spring Champion Stakes, the further he goes the better.”

Taking nothing away from the performance of the winner, those that had backed the runner-up Caymans were feeling a little deflated with the performance described as "tragic" and "slaughtered" in the betting ring following the race.

Caymans was never closer that four and five wide the trip but it was only in the concluding stages that Predatory Pricer got the better of him.
Predatory Pricer 53.5kg ($9.50) (G. Schofield) defeated Caymans 55kg ($5) (K. McEvoy) by a long neck with Dreamscape 58kg ($2.50) (B. Shinn) a further length away in third.
The sectionals: The overall time for the race was 1.23.68 secs with the final 600 metres run in 35.97 secs.
Winner's Breeding: Street Cry (IRE) – Shady Stream (Archregent (CAN))
What they said: “It was a nice win. He’s still learning but he just keeps going. He’s a very nice horses,” said Glyn Schofield of winner Predatory Pricer.
“Great run but I just couldn’t get him to relax and he covered way too much ground,” Caymans’s rider Kerrin McEvoy said.
“He ran very well, it was a tough effort,” Dreamscape’s jockey Blake Shinn said.
“It was a very good first-up run, he found the line really well,” Likefatherlikeson’s rider Hugh Bowman said.
“Forget he ran – I was three wide and kept getting,” Whitefriars’s jockey Larry Cassidy said [7th].
“He ran good but still has plenty to learn,” Peter Robl said of Geared Up [8th].
The favourite: Dreamscape was forced widest in the straight and put up a fighting effort to finish third behind Predatory Pricer and Caymans.
The money trail: Caymans was the best backed runner firming in from $6.50 to $5 while Dreamscape was backed in from $2.80 to $2.50. The on course market closed at 118 per cent.
Horse to follow: Caymans - what a run.
