Despite having been a bit of a tea addict for a number of years now, I've only just started drinking the real stuff. That is, using loose tea leaves with not a bag to be seen. I've only sampled Yorkshire Tea so far, and despite liking their tea from bags find their loose tea merely ok. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Getting back to the bags I've also just discovered Twinings' Extra Strong which makes what I'd call a proper good cup of tea.

Whilst at work I tend to drink green tea (as it saves me buying a pint of milk only to find it has gone off 3 days later and there's still three quarters of it left). I started off on green tea with ginseng but realised I was a bit hypersensitive to the ginseng, the palpitations after every second cup were getting a bit worrying. I then moved on to drinking Clipper's green tea with lemon but it had a rather 'sherbety' lemon taste, ok, but not what you'd expect in tea. I've now found a new variety (I have been expanding my horizons lately on the tea buying front) in Jacksons of Piccaddilly which I can highly recommend as being a fragrant quality tea, although their overly flash website is a tad annoying.

Whittards do a nice line in flavoured instant green teas too.

We use leaf all the time at home - mum and dad wont have bags. They use PG - have done forever.....

Tea is extremely good for you. I heard you can actually count it (black) as part of your required water intake for the day - not sure if this is correct though but I do find it very hydrating. I drink lots of black tea throughout the day - I love it.

Trip, be careful if you suffer indigestion or heartburn as green tea may be partly responsible for this. My OH half loves green tea, especially Clippers but found it gave him heartburn so he has had to cut his intake down.

Tetleys green tea with lemon is great with a little blob of honey. I prefer that one to the Clipper green tea with lemon but I do like the Clipper green tea with orange just for a change.

Lapsang Souchong - yeccch! Sorry, Muttley, but it's like reconstituted burnt wood! I first came across it when my Texan boss (in Libya) prepared some and offered it to me. Dear soul, it was vile. I wanted to doctor it with sugar or even milk, but he assured me it would taste truly appalling like that. Not tried it again, though I like green tea, and Rooibos (Redbush) tea, too: very pleasant indeed.

For everyday use, apart from Yorkshire tea, I love Twining's new 'Everyday' tea - a good strong cup. From the colour, it appears to be Orange Pekoe leaves, from the southern slopes of Sri Lanka, picked in the early morning by village virgins...

I used to drink only leaf tea, in the days when tea bags were allegedly made up of the floor sweepings in the tea factories. I have to say, bags have come on a lot since those days.

I have'nt drank tea from a early age its makes me very ill for some reason, i also hate touching tea bags.

Leave some tea in a cup for a short period of time. Pour away and examine the residue on the inside of the cup. Remind yourself that the same stuff is now lining your stomach. Never drink tea again.

Good man ! B)

Vile drink...

I'm not a tea drinker but was persuaded to have a Chai latte not so long ago. It was constructed with loving care and attention by my favourite capuccino maker in the local Amnesty International outlet. Looked and smelled fantastic. Tasted foul.

I assume that you only drink water. Probably bottled, since a lot of the stuff from the tap also has a residue which it leaves behind.

That's what I thought. There are many far worse things you can eat or drink. One presumes Archie is tee-total, drinks nothing but the purest water from up a mountain, grows his own organic fruit and veg, loves lentils and mung beans......his body is a temple

I bought some of the herbal stuff from Somerfields a few months back. Vanilla and Blackcurrant or something similar, smelt lovely but tasted awful. Trying to stick with the Earl Grey, Darjeelings and Assam from now on :)

The point about loose tea is very true... Love a proper brew up

Tried a lot but for loose tea have come right back to PG Tips

Teabags ... M&S extra strong also Yorkshire tea is good

Love Green tea too

quite frightening stuff if you think the word Green in its name is just a name - dont know what i was expecting it to do, but I had a huge shock when it actually was green.....

tastes quite nice though, and is supposed to help raise your metabolism....
