Since yesterday afternoon for no reason that I can fathom adverts have been appearing on my screen.

I already have Adblock Plus installed but somehow these annoying ads are getting through.

Any help appreciated.
 
On here or everywhere?
Some ads will get through as there are ways to beat ad blockers, but most should be blocked on most sites.
 
Pretty much everywhere bar the BBC site.

They seem to come in fits and starts. I can go for a while with none then it's constant for a while.

My laptop hasn't been 100% 'right' since I was in Spain a couple of weeks ago. It wanted to do an automatic upgrade but the battery is donald-ducked so I have to have it plugged in all the time. I told the room staff as I was going out that I'd left the spare key in the slot by the door to keep the leccie on while it went through its update but I suspect she forgot and cut the power for a while because ever since that day the laptop keeps going through configurations every time I switch it on or off.

I did a security scan on Friday and it said there was nothing untoward.
