I find the new RP site better for printing off cards (in the sense that they now don't have all the annoying extra stuff like adverts etc) than before but there's something I can't figure...

If I print off the cards at work (a rarity, I ahve to say) they print out fine: the card takes up the full width of the page and the text is a readable size.

When I do it from home, regardless of which of two printers I use, I find the text only takes up about a half to a third of the printable area of the paper, rendering the text very small, which in turn makes it difficult for me to write my own notes next to horses.

Any ideas how to get my home printer(s) to do it the same way as the one at work does?

Thanks, Mel. I'm sure I explored printing preferences looking for that but I'll try again this evening.

If you're using the same browser at home & work, check the printing set-up on the work one & try applying this at home?
If not, take a look at the work setting anyway: might help.

Yes there is.

You're not looking hard enough.

It varies with printer/os though so it may be presented slightly differently.

On Windows Vista/HP printer at home

When I go to "file" "print" this page for example, I can click "preferences" on the General print tab. Then "features" - resizing options - I can click on the "scale to paper size" button and Voila.

At work it's different again but I can't remember what it was when I posted the above. Since we got past dot matrix and daisywheel printers I've never seen a case where it's not there in some form under the title of scaling or auto fit or shrink/stretch to fit.

One way I've found of printing from awkward sites is to save the page to Microsoft Word (on IE this option can be found under the "File" menu) and then adjust the margins etc on the "Word" page. Once you have worked out the way you want it save the settings as a template and it will fit automatically.

One is an Epson 400, the other a Dell 924. The one at work is an HP b/w laser but don't know which model.

I don't have a 'features' tab or dialog box.

When you click File>Print within Internet Explorer, a print dialog box should open up. At the top right of this do you have a "Properties" button. If you have, click this and it should take you into the printer preferences. Within there, there should be several Tabs, one of which should allow you to fiddle about with your page settings.

Ok, when you open up your Printers and Faxes and right-click on your printer, you should have Printer Preferences and also Properties. On my Canons and on my old HP I could set all the settings that I wish to by either of these methods.

From the Epson support Website

You can fit the size of your document to the size of the paper you will print on. Open the Layout dialog box and check the Layout dialog box to adjust the print size.
To open the Layout dialog box, click Print on the File menu of your application, then click the Layout icon in the Print dialog box.

Selecting this setting proportionally enlarge or reduces the size of the image to make it fit the paper size you selected in the Paper Size list. To use this function, select Fit to Page check box, then select the paper size you loaded in the printer.

Appreciate all the help but I'm still not or seeing any of the thinkgs you're referring to. I've been accessing 'preferences' etc but there's nothing in there I can see to do with fitting to the page. The page sizes I have set are all full A4 size.
