Grand National weights day used to be the highlight of my year, second only to the race itself. Can’t believe I’m so lacking in knowledge of many of the horses running and have no idea of which ones to have a bet on; I always put my first bets on on weights day. I think the race has just changed so much over the past few years and a seven year old winning was the final straw. Think I’ll still concentrate on first time runners. Interesting that PN is taking the race so seriously these days. He always used to look down his nose at it.
