Fair play to the Weekender which I picked up a few minutes ago.

I've written to them more than once down the years to complain that there's never anything about the GN the week the weights come out. I accept the schedule is very tight with the weights being unveiled on the Tuesday (used to be earlier in the day than it is now) but I always felt there was still room for mentions even with some sort of caveat about the timing of the unveiling relative to the publishing schedule.

Today's (ie this week's) edition has two articles on the race and Alan King mentions it in his column.

Alistair Jones - he's dropped the first barrel of his double barrelled surname over the years - makes the point that it isn't hard to anticipate what the weights will be these days and seems keen on Broadway Boy (I admit 66/1 is a good price for one that was one of the favourites in the lead-up to the Hennessy) and editor Nick Watts has an article about the unveiling of the weights.

Well done, Weekender, and I'll be emailing them to thank them.
