He was beaten by two; Black Bear Island and Straight Forward in his maiden though neither won the race, that was Driving Snow trained by Kevin P.

The race time was nothing short of amazing.
2m 20.3 for 12 furlongs is Secretariat like .
I was hoping his GP de Saint Cloud win would help him turn the corner and became a confident racer; he did it all today ; cruised, accelerated and fought to the line .
My father always maintained the Aga Khan bred the best racehorses; I do hope he was looking down today , pipe gripped between his teeth rubbing his palms together .

11.69s per furlong.

Secretariat clocked 2m 24s in the Belmont Stakes, breaking by 2.6s the previous track record that had stood for 16 years.

Different era, surface etc and Calandagan is no Secretariat (who beat Sham 31 lengths that day) but the time in Tokyo today is astonishing nonetheless.
