A meeting I love every year and I saw a host of talent there in 2022.

A quick run through this years's declared runners.

The 5f opener - if there is a Live In The Dream in here, I cannot see who it is as a lot of the pedigrees say "2yo" to me

Esher Cup - Once almost as big as the Britannia at Ascot, there are several interesting types for the future in this

Gordon Richards - There have been better renewals but some decent animals in this, including Alamqam, who I saw win here last year and may benefit if the tap-happy CoC is true to form

Mile - I love Haatem, but I think he wants it on top, so might be "Coopered" (see above), Lead Artist has an obvious chance and Dancing Gemini looked better than ever at Doncaster

Classic Trial - Doubt if there's a Shergar to win it by ten and a few pedigrees here scream "this 1m2f will be plenty far enough!" to me, but Damysus has a pedigree I like

Fillies - I saw Emily Upjohn win this by the length of Esher High Street and the same yard have Star Of Light who has the sort of progressive middle-distance pedigree I swoon over

The Last - Just an innocuous Class 4 3yo 1m2f handicap on paper but could be a source of future quality

I've had a look at the card and I've noted the latest stick reading.

As previously stated, there is often a lot to learn for the future from this card, but, as for what might happen tomorrow, a few thoughts....

Zayer 1.15 - Only beaten 3l in the Flying Childers last September, merits his opening mark of OR 99, the stable is flying and I'd expect him to go well. Currently 6/1.

Thunder Wonder 1.50 - There are numerous progressive sorts in this, but he fairly bolted in by 5.5l at Musselburgh last week, same trip, similar ground, another right-handed track here, a 6lb penalty might not stop him and 9/2 might be fair as I've have him 3/1 tops.

Lead Artist & Dancing Gemini 3.00 - Lead Artist has the best form, but he's going to have to be ready here to floor Dancing Gemini who looked an improved horse to me at Doncaster. I love Haatem, went for a monster touch at monster odds in the 2,000 Guineas with him last year, and he wasn't far away, then got it back with interest in the Jersey, but I think he wants it on top and CoC Andrew Cooper is a maniac for overwatering in my book. Both are 3/1, so even money dutched one of them wins it.

Damysus 3.35 - A win any of the quintet wouldn't surprise me tbh, but this colt is by Frankel out of a 1m4f French Group winner, he will definitely get 1m4f himself and I expect him to be staying on best of all at the end of this stiff 1m2f. Currently 9/2.

Star Of Light 4.10 - By Frankel out of an Irish Oaks winner, she's bred to win an Oaks herself and I'm expecting substantial improvement on the level of form she showed to narrowly win a 1m1f110yds Wolverhampton Maiden on her racecourse debut. Currently 3/1.

Sing Us A Song 4.45 - The yard are lethal getting their progressive types handicapped and this Camelot colt out of a Galileo mare is going to do nothing but improve this year. A mark of 85 looks no gift on his nose Goodwood Maiden win, but there's so much more to come from this one, especially when stepped up to 1m4f+ later. Currently 9/1.

A cracking day's racing in prospect.

The TH Massive will no doubt be relieved to hear that their Uber Smug Favourite Uncle Smart Arse who, let's face it, is never absent from the pay-out window queue for long, will once again be eating hot food over the weekend. 😂👍

Brave man, Ian, for punting today.

Not my type of racing for betting purposes but often throws up future winners. I hope I can be on them when they materialise.

The prices sucked me in, Maurice.

I managed to get 13/2 Zayer (2/1 fav, disappointed) 3/1 Dancing Gemini (evens winner really as dutched with the also disappointing Lead Artist) and 9/1 Sing Us A Song (SP 4/1), a huge price, I thought, for a progressive sort from that yard.

Maybe I'm biased - for the usual obvious reasons 😂 - but I thought Hector Crouch gave him a superb ride, given he's bred to stay 1m4f and really put them to the sword.

And the colt himself looks a lovely, strong, type to me, and will surely continue to progress.

This day's racing seldom disappoints and I enjoyed it enormously.
