Outside of the Classics on the Flat I don't create many threads about what my associate "Leafy" calls "high-end dross," (his disparaging euphemism for Pattern races.

This contest, to me, is notable for the following - it's named after a horse who, while an admirable Sandown Park course specialist, wasn't what I'd call a top-class 2m chaser, and this year it kinda clashes with the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on Sunday (the Becher and the London National have the same issue.

Anyway, from 2m to 2m5f Il Etait Temps looks a MACHINE.

That said, L'Eau Sud goes from strength to strength over fences and annihilated Jon-gone (do you see what I did there?) at Cheltenham last time out.

Should be worth a gander.

Well you might think Jonbon has no chance ( and I tend to agree ) but let me remind you of the result of the Fighting Fifth where a Horse called Golden Ace won when she was being called by some
" a bag of sh*** & the worse Champion Hurdle winner ever
He might be a bit older but he could surprise you and possibly win once more

I backed Il Etait Temps on his first run at Cheltenham at 20/1 in the Triumph hurdle when it finished 5th to Vauban. The horse pulled for it's head throughout the race never settled but yet was bang there at the final hurdle.
Put the horse in my tracker and have followed it ever since as I thought the horse would improve immensely once they got it to settle.
I feel the horse is getting stronger all the time and probably learning to concentrate on the job in hand now.
Beat Jonbon in the Celebration chase at Sandown in April and I can't for the life of me seeing it reverse the form.
I backed L'eau Du Sud on its last start (got 11/2 early doors) which I thought was an unbelievable price in what turned out to be such an uncompetitive contest but I felt the race was handed to it in a way.
In this instance I think the bookmakers have got the prices about right.
Looking forward to what could be an intriguing contest.

I see the following juvenile hurdle has a future Lincoln winner The Hertford and Jer, a son of Sea Bird that won 4 mile chases in later life.
The Hertford won the first Lincoln I ever remember watching on TV and I'm pretty sure I backed Jer when I was actually at Doncaster for the Great Yorkshire Chase one year.

Remember having a bet on him in the Grand National the year he ran up a sequence of wins , Great Yorkshire included.
Tingle Creek one of many USA chasers that came to Europe in the 1970s including Soothsayer and Inkslinger. Pretty sure they all met in a Colonial Cup before their European adventures.

Benson and Hedges Gold Cup 😆 wouldn't see that today? Good morning good luck today

Did banning tobacco advertising ever have an effect om reducing smoking ? Hard to tell with all the things they put in place afterwards. The smoking ban came in 2007 then the age rise, change of packets and stricter I.D. All seems pretty pointless now there are a couple of vape shops on every high street and kids all with their E-pens/sticks whatever they are called.
