A race I became fond of a couple of years ago as, having organised betting him at 25/1 NRNB ante post with Hills, I Am Maximus made it pretty clear I was not only on a runner, but the best handicapped horse in the race by winning this by half the length of the run in.

Here's the field rated by the weight-adjusted marks they've been given for Aintree and the projected result if they all run to those marks (which obviously they almost certainly won't).

If nothing else, it might provide an at-a-glance guide immediately afterwards to who just showed they're potentially well in at Aintree (if they make the cut).

Race ratings based on Aintree OR
166 Grangeclare West 166
166 Gerri Colombe 166
159 Spanish Harlem 159
156 Three Card Brag 156
152 Captain Cody 152
150 Answer To Kayf 150
148 Intense Raffles 148
146 Lecky Watson 12x 158
145 Stellar Story 8x 153
144 Jordans 6x 150

"Result"
1 Grangeclare West
1 DH Gerri Colombe
3 2¼ Spanish Harlem
4 3½l Three Card Brag
5 4¾l Captain Cody
6 2½l Answer To Kayf
7 2½l Intense Raffles
8 2½l Lecky Watson 12x
9 1¼ Stellar Story 8x
10 1¼ Jordans 6x

There is absolutely no need to thank Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse for this.

He's all about entertaining the less fortunate (that'll be most) by applying a load of ratings for a 4m2f110yds Grand National to a 3m2f event half the field might be having a school round in.

Gerry Colombe looks interesting at around 16/1👍🏻

Here's the stats re historically how runners have performed in this race when having ran in pointer/prep/trial races over the last 12 months.

Some pretty strong ew stats e.g. runners that ran in the last renewal of the Leopardstown Irish Gold Cup Chase Stakes 3m 100y Grade1 in Feb have a 10/17 58.8% ew strike rate in this race.

Mind you the prize money doesn't look that great in this race

Oh dear, what seems to have occurred?

Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse has put up the Forecast/Exacta.

Time to pick through the result and put a portion of the profits on something for the Grand National.

I have current fav Three Card Brag top rated, 2nd fav Grangeclare West 3rd top rated and bigger priced Gerri Colombe 2nd top rated.

There's some strong ew stats in the trial/prep/pointer race stats and outsider Lecky Watson does feature and I have 4th top rated.

It's going to be a great race to watch.
Profit for me as 1st and 2nd in my top 3

I didn't see any racing today and am only catching up with results and I'm pleased with this one.

I already had GW at 25s for the National and in a double with TJM (16/1) for the KG, plus 100/1 Gerri C for the National.

Nice to have some nice prices in the 'portfolio' at this stage.

Bobbyjo third-placed stats
2026: Stellar Story wins the Grand National, Slim (with wads of Euro bank notes virtually falling out of his pockets) is arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Dublin City centre at 2am, five hours after Ian Davies in Hampshire, UK, celebrated with an extra chocolate hob nob with his evening hot chocolate before being in bed by nine.
