There is always carnage at that fence, and it is rarely commented on. I don't know if it's because it comes after the big ditch and horses are expecting something different, but over the years there have been multiple pile-ups there, and a fair few costly fallers at crucial times in races. Just been looking at old National videos and the likes of Rinus, Smiths Band and others have come a cropper there ....and it looked like 5 or 6 fell in the Topham today there.
