Master of Hounds takes on Kentucky Derby Winner Animal Kingdom and Preakness winner Shackleford in a very competitive renewal. Shackleford will no doubt get the lead and try to slow this race down. Wide open race as you never know how many of these horses can stay 12F.

Prior to this race Garrett Gomez rides Viscount Nelson for O'Brien in the G1 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Turf over 10F..with Gio Ponti the heavy fav.

Would not be surprised if Viscount Nelson has already been sold and will probably stay in America.

Powerscourt other than Gio Ponti, what sort of opposition does Viscount Nelson face?

It wouldn't surprise me either were he to remain in the US.

Prince Will I Am probably the major opposition but Gio Ponti is much the best. A lot will depend on the pace as some of these turf races are run at a crawl and then a sprint finish. VN is getting 5 lbs from Gio Ponti and runs on Lasix for the first time. MOH on Lasix too.

There is a 60% chance of rain in New York tomorrow.. The Belmont could be on a sloppy track which will probably not suit MOH.

RULER ON ICE, an outsider (approx. 25/1), wins.

Animal Kingdom met interference just after the start and was last halfway down the back.

Master Of Hounds missed the break and never looked like taking a significant part.

By the way, the average winning distance of his sire's (Roman Ruler) progeny is five furlongs!!

Sloppy track usually ends up with this kind of result ..a throw out type of race.

Overall it looks like a weak group of American 3 year olds.

Roman Ruler has not produced a whole lot so far has he ?

Viscount Nelson was well beaten ..the yielding ground did not help as he wants it like the road..Gia Ponti was poorly ridden and was too far back to win from where he was ..
