When I was 7 or 8 I remember this show and absolutely loved it . I would honestly say that it was the start of my love for the French languague . For years I've tried to find out what the programme was actually called and then I came upon it by accident . It was called "The Flashing Blade " When I was a kid I just wanted to be part of his gang . He was called le Chevalier De Ricci and he was supposed to be rescuing France from the Spanish

some one of my cohorts must have watched this series . I'm 34 so you know who you are

This show actually taught me french . The BBC never anticipated that . Tu es trop gentile .

I'm 33 and I've never heard of this Sol?? Perhaps they thought it too cultured and intelligent for Welsh children :) ...

I don't remember it - but I'm just a wee bit younger so maybe it was just before my time.

But on the subject of kids TV (and apologies Sol for crashing your post) - does anyone remember The Incredible Schmoo?? It was a Hanna Barbera Scooby-esque cartoon with some white blob instead of a dog. All of my friends think I am making it up because nobody remembers it - can someone vindicate me??!!!

I'm too young to remember it I'm afraid, Sols.....I'm only 27!!!! Besides, you'd have to go a long way to beat Jamie & The Magic Torch.....

But you have to see the programme Shadow . He was a french Robin Hood . Rescuing his people from oppression . When I saw that programme I thought that was all you had to do to set the world to rights . Join some bandits on horseback who had divine intentions
For years I remembered the guys name "le chevalier de ricci " I remembered that from I was 8yrs old . I was watching a BBC 3 programme the other night and I recognised it but I think alot of kids my age would have seen it in their summer holidays .

I'm gonna buy the dvds and I'll send a copy to anyone who remembers it :D That's you Simmo :D I loved this programme ,

Thanks Soba , you're great . How did you find that ? It was a real all for one and one for all theme tune . Thanks for that . Loads of memories .

Together with Flash Gordon , Champion the Wonder Horse and Zorro !
Oh you cynic , I refuse to believe that you did'nt have a childhood hero Ardross. I've completely bared my soul and you have cleared off  I will find out :D You can't run . And don't take the piss out of flash gordon cause he'll get you :P
Thanks to Brian too for taking the time to find the video / dvd . God bless ya . When I was a kid I modelled the horse I would buy on the character's horse in the dvd

I actually remember running away from my Irish dancing class one Saturay morning because I was forced to go there rather than be allowed to watch Zorro
Black Beauty was the other show I never missed . My mum has told me that when it went over as soon as I heard the music I would burst into tears . Something about that music and the gorgeous horse galloping through the fields . :P

That was the Lloyds bank ads and the thought of my student overdraft that led to the tears.

Downlands Cancara (I think!) was the name of the Lloyds Bank horse (he was also used in Black Beauty) - he was stabled about 20 minutes away from where I lived as a kid. The yard he was kept at supplied horses & props fot film & television & we went on a school trip there one day when I was at primary school.

I don't know why but I can't hear the Black Beauty music even today without going into tears  . Conditioning I suppose but I cried when Moscow won at Cheltenham and when Persian Punch won the jockey club . I think it's the horses that tie me up :D
