does any one know if the race form printed in the weekender each week covers all the races ? i was thinking of subscribing to raceform, but if i can get the same info each week in the weekender, i'll do that. i realize there will be other stuff, and you get a pretty binder etc, but essentially its just the results info and race analysis i want, so is it worth paying the extra dough ?

cheers

Haven't bought the Weekender for ages but think there's only form for the feature races and usually only each horses last couple of runs

I gave up subscribing to Raceform about 5 years ago and switched to The Weekender.

Raceform pros & cons:

Pros - builds up nicely; clearly laid out.
Cons - doesn't cover Irish racing bar the bigger races; changed from quality (what I call 'missal') paper to ordinary paper (to save on costs) but it makes it a lot thicker an unwieldy; got very expensive imo; you're at the mercy of Royal Mail who often failed to have the instalment delivered by the Saturday and Raceform seem unwilling to challenge them about it.

Weekender pullout Pros & cons:

Pros - includes all the Irish racing; includes other info that Raceform doesn't (but off the top of my head I can't remember exactly what*); works out much cheaper than Raceform (for more information); can be bought on the Wednesday
Cons - unwieldy as the season progresses, especially on the flat.

*if/when I do remember I'll add a note.

If Raceform slashed their prices and went back to quality thin paper I might go back to them but the lack of Irish racing is a huge negative for me.

They're sister companies.

Used to collect the raceform results for years, (a couple of years of both Raceform and Weekender), but switched to raceform interactive about a decade ago.

The thought of going back to collecting paper pullouts, and flipping them back and forth (same with the annuals) seems nothing short of hideous.

Do yourselves a favour and get an online subscription to something. I like raceform, but maybe it's just because it's familiar to me. Didn't like the look/feel of computer timeform when I tried that. Some people swear by others at about half the price of raceform, but I feel comfortable knowing I'm using the official formbook.
It's pretty much like having the annuals at your fingertips, with places to interact with it by storing figures, notes, keeping notebooks (nag me type thing), and running queries (system building for want of another expression). The more complex queries can take a while to run, and other software is probably better for that, but for your general day to day stuff and not so complex queries, I've found raceform to come out top. I use some of the RP online (essentially the weekender) for Trainer/Jock course stats/recent form mainly as it's slightly quicker though not quite as indepth , but don't subscribe to it.

Not really, they have special offers on all the time. I think the latest fee I paid was 4 months for the price of 6. It's probably about a quid per day. The paper versions are cheaper, but when you weigh it up (literally as well) theres just no comparison. I've emailed you about it.
