Has anyone here seen this film?

I was quite impressed, one of the best new films I have seen recently.

Zhang Ziyi in her best performance yet.

The pictures and and action is really good and the story is very interesting,I advise you to watch it.

That's being offered to me on FilmFour, Phil: the trailers look very crash, bang, wallop - is it a bit more subtle than loads of wirework and blood?

In the past two weeks, appalled at the fare on regular tv, I cabled onto 'Collateral', 'The Clearing', 'Man on Fire', 'Spartan' and 'Layer Cake'. These are all a bit tame, so tomorrow I shall be settling down to 'Shark Tale'.

I despise the current mode of killing off main characters: Tom Cruise is righteously despatched, Robert Redford (who done no wrong) likewise, and Daniel Craig is shot right in the last frame of Layer Cake - I thought that weakened the ending, inasmuchas he should've got away with things in a cheeky-chappie Alfie style.

Suny,

Just as a matter of interest. When the top American/English films are shown in Spain are they dubbed or subtitled or is everyone expected to understand English (or have you a choice).

I just wondered, as I find dubbing very irritating, and I miss half the film trying to read subtitles.

The films here in Spain are dubbed and quite well.

I dont like subtitles and I like to watch film both dubbed and also in english.

I'd rather read the subtitles than listen to dubbed voices any day of the week.

Krizon, "Hero" is very good. It's full of twists and the story changes direction about 5 times.

Phil, you know I'm very old and slightly senile now. One plot twist = can keep up. Two plot twists = difficult, but hanging in. Three plot twists = how many people wrote this thing? Four plot twists - off to make tea and find some cake to eat. Five plot twists = remote through tv screen. I had enough trouble with 'Layer Cake', which I appear to have slightly spoiled for AC. Don't you hate it when people do that? But of course Daniel's not the only one getting aerated, AnC - ooh, there's - no, that would be cruel to ruin the entire film.

Shads - watched 'Shark Tale' tonight - absolutely a hoot, and adorable! Aren't CG films fantastic? I will now watch 'Hero' and hope my few functioning grey cells can manage to keep up with the intricacies of the exercise. After that, I plan to watch 'Wicker Park'.
