Back in April, I had €40 on Master Minded for this race at 8/1.

I have since had another tilt at the horse at 10/1.

If he wins the race, it will be the third time that the beast has netted me in or around a grand.

I think he is going to grab Captain Chris by the throat and smash him into submission. I shudder to think about how the experience is going to effect Long Run's future career.

He's still probably the main obstacle to Long Run on anything near his best, so 8/1 is perhaps fair.

The horse owes you nothing but would you have punted him if you'd not had those two big wins? Sentiment is a big factor when it comes to punting on the jumps. I'm on Captain Chris at 10s.

I can dig your seasons, but an Azertyuiop would have pissed that Aintree race also and he didn't have what it took to win a KG and was of similar merit to MM.

Fair point, but I think Captain Chris is gonna be a monster over further than 2 and a half. I wouldn't mind seeing Master Minded pissing it.

I've never won much of anything on him, love Long Run yet think MM is a bet at 10s.

Riverside Theatre 25/1 e/way for this course specialist is the bet for me.

Not sure he will make it SC - Be careful with that bet. Henderson said his main aim is the Ryanair after suffering a setback last year he will be a while coming to hand.

Fair enough. But Azerty was 4/1 against Kicking King, Le Roi Miguel, First Gold, Kingscliff and Edredon Bleu.

Apart from Long Run, the opposition is promising at best by championship standards.

Kauto at 11 is better than any of those listed when they ran in the race except maybe Kicking King who was in his pomp then. In fact its an insult to suggest Le Roi Miguel is even in the same parish!!!

That's right, very unlikely to make it I've heard.

I've backed Captain Chris for this but I have to say Master Minded is attractively priced at around 5s as well. And it's not as if I'm gagging to take the favourite on either. Confused.

None really looking back at the race just now. And Somersby did plug on nicely towards the end. Make more sense to punt him ew.

I'll be putting every spare few quid I have between now and KG day on Long Run. Can't see anything touching him. I respect Somersby, Master Minded and especially Captain Chris. But for me Long Run showed his class today in getting as close as he did to a pitch perfect Kauto Star who pretty much never touched a twig, with Long Run making jumping error after error.

5 weeks to get cherry ripe around a course he loves! If he lines up on the day, nothing gets near him. We've been here before. I'm not a short price fav fan, but 6/4 will do nicely for me.

Fair point, he's enhanced his reputation if anything today. The Captain is gonna be special over 3 miles though and will give him a go.

Its the fact that he made errors that makes 6/4 no chance for me. Kauto put the pressure on (as SWC admitted) and whilst it may be that he wasnt tuned up totally, Kauto can do that again at Kempton (as could MM).

I cant see how that enhanced reputation at all. Mistakes are just not on at this level, no matter how much he plugs on at the end

Kauto is rather good at kempton too as is Captain chris (early career anyway)
