East Wall is a newly yuppified area near Dublin docklands. It has a mix of new professional buyers of reasonably priced housing and the families that have lived there for generations.

Mr. Aidan Kane (51) lived there. He got fed up with a gang of young skangers who were intimidationg him and throwing eggs at his home. He chased them down a nearby lane. One of the group took out a hand gun and shot him dead.

Police are interviewing a 13 Year Old Male.
 
When I moved to London some time back, everyone always asked 'was it safe?'. I've never felt less safe in London than in Cork on a Saturday night. These thugs should be locked up. Where are the police in Ireland at night? At home in bed because they spent the day behind a desk.

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested by gardaí investigating the shooting dead of a man in the East Wall area of Dublin's north inner city last night.

The victim, aged in his 50s, was attacked on Bargy Road at around 7.15pm. He was shot a number of times.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardaí have launched a full-scale investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The scene of the shooting has also been sealed off for forensic examination.

Reports this morning speculated that the man may have been shot dead by a teenager after confronting a group of youths who had been throwing eggs at his home.

He was not known to the gardaí and the killing is not believed to be linked to gangland crime.

Such a relief that it was not related to gangland crime and was only the result of a house egging gone wrong :blink:
