Re Thousand Stars; jockey Tom Doyle recommended him to Jim Culloty when trainer Lar Byrne ( not Hardy/Lecky Lar) was selling him as a 5 year old.

For 10k he was an ideal syndicate horse that could run every week and always finish in the frame, according to Tom.

Jim declined; apparently he too cheap .... the rest is history.

As a 2 year in France he finished third to Binocular once, with Ashkazar  sixth.

Any wonder these French  horses became popular ?

5 + 3 = ?
