The Nicky Henderson Thread 2018/2019

Igor ran a nice debut today for Sam Waley-Cohen.
He had been given to me as a dark horse for the season; the only if is his dam sire is Stravinsky; not a likely NH stronghold.
He may however be like Sean Og O Hailpin; neither Fermanagh nor Fiji were hurling strongholds and look how he fared !

My source in Henderson’s tell me that I can’t Explain it is their Supreme horse for March. He goes in first at Sandown tomorrow. 11/4 for tomorrow, 40/1 for Supreme.

I thought the same myself around Aintree. Then i got told to back him & that Nicky reckons this lad is the biz.

Worth taking a punt at 11/4 & 40/1 if he obliges tomorrow.

Cheers for that, Kauto.

I forgot to back him today but took 40s last night for the Supreme. He made that 11/4 look monstrous.

As I said last week Champ is heading for the Challow of Saturday

Nicky will no down play down his chances by telling us he does nothing at home (is that why he was working with Buvi?)........he'll p!ss up again IMO and be 5/2 for the Balmore after Saturday

Good AP bet Single on Champ 10/1 Buvi 7/4 Altior 13/18 plus a 51/1 treble

I would be scanning Altiors off foreleg to check for any potential problem. Not only would the jumping left worry me but he kept changing back onto his near fore and off his other front leg. I would like to be able to rule anything out. Hopefully he's fine but if he was mine, I just wouldn't take the chance.

Even I noticed the constant leg changing. Both Hendo and Nico seemed pretty dismissive of his going left but I'd want them to check it out too.

They’ll get it checked out for sure. It’s the first time he’s made his own running since his bumper so hopefully just not accustomed to it.

Nico just got Downtown Getaway up on the line there to bring up the Mr Fisher/Before Midnight treble.

Just to say also they’re scoping everything they’re running before they go to the track so 9 times out of ten you can be sure they’re going to run to form. There’s a slight cough and a few trachea washes coming back dirty. Angels Breath only missed a piece of work but will be fine in a day or so they reckon.

The ground was horrible.Nothing was coming from behind to challenge and horses were finishing very tired, or not finishing. We noticed the leg changing as well, but I would put it down to the ground.

The time suggests that the ground was much better than suggested. He’s made his own running in a very quick time despite jumping left. I’m inclined to agree with Nicky’s immediate thoughts after the race.

Morning Vicar fancied tomorrow @ Hereford, 5/2. Blew up last time out at Newbury last time.
