Seems Vic has pulled his sponsorship, after being unexpectedly asked to tender for the race.

I hope whoever picks-up the sponsorship, quickly reverts it back to being a handicap, because it used to be one of the races of the season, and has been a pale shadow of it's former self since the conditions were changed.

I agree it should revert a handicap . Doncaster did institute a valuable 2m chap to be run on the same day as the Cheltenham trials meeting but halved it in value last year - it is not a proper substitute.
