The Prodigal Son

Hardly - he had seven years from the point of his departure in which a Conservative, not this coalition, government was in power before Tony Bliar took over the reins in 1997. He could've returned at any time during that time, but didn't, and the other point to note is that he was never, legally or technically, 'on the run'. Note that the judge in his original trial failed to set bail and thus he was free to roam at leisure. A judicial balls-up, no doubt, but he did nothing wrong in bogging back to his homeland. Any sense of moral disapproval doesn't make something illegal.

Only 4 years actually, he moved back to Cyprus in 1993, and a Welsher is still a Welsher, even if he's Turkish!
He's probably returned so that he can take advantage of a free bus pass and health care, maybe he needs new specs?

So British justice had four years in which to make a more efficient attempt to rope him in, and either just couldn't be arsed, or realised it had made a muck-up and just let things go? I'm not sure how he thinks he can clear his name, unless he's prepared to go to trial, which seems rather perverse. I'm sure the lure of free travel on our lovely buses and some NHS gogs would be more than enough, though, of an incentive, with or without the £43 million squirrelled away...

Now the sands of time have muddied the waters he decides to come back, probably has some safe deposit boxes hidden away.
Do we really need ths two faced, lying, fiddling bastard in this country? He'll fit in like a hand in a glove.
