This month's Pegasus magazine runs the following ad:
Testimony Films is producing a new documentary for Ch.4 exploring the role of real warhorses during WWI. We are making a film that explores true stories of British horses sent to the front line. The British govt. requisitioned nearly half a million privately-owned horses from across the country. Shires were taken away from farms and sent to the front line to help British troops. Unfortunately, only about 50,000 came back. Farmers were the most affected and, without their horses to help, many farms struggled to make ends meet.
We are looking for anyone whose families had horses requisitioned during WW!, so if your family's horses were summoned to the front line, we would love to hear from you. Does anyone remember their old horses? What did it do to the family? Were the horses returned?
If anyone you know had horses taken away for the War and have memories to share, please contact Devika on 01179 258589, email devika.raman@testimonyfilms.com, or write to War Horses Appeal, Testimony Films, 12 Great George St., Bristol, BS1 5RH.

I don't know if Northern Ireland's farms were also plundered of their farm horses, hunters, etc., but if anyone knows of any which were sent to the lines, here's an opportunity to tell about them.
