Caught bits of this last night and watching it (well, half!!) tonight - it's quite good really. Not least because tonight it is set in one of my favourite places, Carcassone in the Languedoc region of France. It's a magical place; the atmosphere is something else. Carcassone is the only whole walled mediaeval city in Europe - it is very impressive.

Sounds a bit like KAIRDIFF NICK...S-L ................... :P

I booked my annual holiday for the summer on Friday - It was a toss up between Carcassone and La Baule. I went with La Baule because it was easier to get to, after seeing last nights programme I already regret it.

Ah well, Summer 2008 isn't that far away.

Actually Homer - I'm really not!! I tend to read more than watch TV, excepting watching SIS/RUK/ATR at work all day that is.....

Mel - Carcassonne is a wonderful place. There is an airport there too (it's tiny - even smaller than Gib airport, more a shack in a field!!!) which Ryanair fly to so it's easily accessible too. It's well worth a trip - and the coast nearby at Le Bacares (about 45 mins away) is a lovely area to stay too. My aunt & uncle have a flat there.

La Baule has lots of charm though .

B)

Sadly not as much as Carcassonne

*&^% :angy: ?%$£

Didn't know about the airport. I thought I'd have to drive from Biarritz or Marseille.
The Aer Lingus flight into Rennes is €400 cheaper for us than Ryanair into Carcassone so that is some sort of compensation - I'd still have booked differently had I waited a couple of days though.

Is it that expensive to fly into Carcassonne for you Mel? I ask as I flew into Carcassonne from Stanstead a few years ago and it cost me something ridiculous like £100 all in (incl taxes/charges) for a return. Mind you the prices fluctuate a lot I know.

3 returns to Rennes were €600 (€75 e/w +taxes)
3 returns to Cacassone is €1000 (€135/€155 +taxes)

The flights to Carcassone are reasonably priced, if they are slow filling them they might even be reduced at some stage. The Aer Lingus ones to Rennes were cheap.
