The Skybet Chase Sat Jan 26th Doncaster

Always makes me think of Bob Turnell's Buona Notte a brilliant young chaser who won the Supreme went novice Chasing and would have won the Massey Ferguson beating Arkle by some way instead of finishing just in front of him after a horrific blunder at the last.........he then went for this race and was killed when falling.

It may be just about the toughest handicap chase apart from the national to win Only one jockey has managed to win it 3 times before most of you were born and only 3 have won it twice.

Nicky's Richards dad Gordon W Richards won it with Playlord then had to wait over 25 years before winning it again the lo and behold he won it again the year after.

His Guitar Pete has been entered and he's a big price at 16/1 despite 2 very good recent 3rds in top class company.

The problem is the trip as he never got the trip in the past but a couple of years older and the way he's been running on 3 miles round the almost flat Donnie might be exactly what he needs.

If I know for sure he's running and in good form I will be backing him ew again

I like Dingo Dollar. On paper he should win, but he's been off the track for quite a while (56 days) and he's short enough for me personally. On Tour or Federici are my possible each way bets, with preference for the old boy, On Tour.

On Tour is more than capable of a good day, as when running second to Thomas Patrick last year at Aintree.
He also tends to run his best races carrying weights in the mid-to-low ten stones range.
Having just turned 11 years old he is on his lowest chase mark that he's ever been - (133).
With the five pound claimer, he is effectively 9 pound lower than his best run last season - which was that second placing to Thomas Patrick off 137.

This is always a good race and this renewal is right up there with the best of them. Federici’s best form is at Aintree and his age makes him vulnerable to improvers of which there are plenty. O O Seven is rated on last season’s improving form and he didn’t need to be at that level first time up to win over C&D. Dingo Dollar posted a career best in the Hennessy and is being trained for the Scottish National but the trainer won this twice recently with Ziga Boy although he has said he’ll withdraw the horse if it doesn’t rain. Nicholls could do a Cyrname with Art Mauresque by producing him to run much better than ever before when the money’s down so I’ll be watching for a move in the betting. Willie Boy is the other big improver but he’s got more to do than most. I’ve backed Monbeg River each-way at 25/1. He could be still improving, goes well fresh and jumps well so he has as good a chance as several at much shorter prices. I think On Tour is in decline otherwise he should have won the big veterans’ final at Sandown so I’m taking Art Mauresque (main bet), O O Seven (saver) and Monbeg River (outsider) against the field.
