Not much racing of interest at the moment so looking to Cheltenham.
Looks likes this is destined for the Emerald Isles and it’s a shame some enterprising bookmaker hasn’t come up with a “without the Irish” book (they haven’t have they?). If they did I think I might go for Strong Leader who has looked very impressive, albeit in much less rarefied atmospheres. It is a big hike in class , but he would only have the British to beat!
So far as the most likely ones are concerned I was sorry that High Definition didn’t complete last time to give a better clue, but I wouldn’t put it past him to bring his flat class to the table. Joseph O’Brien sums it up:
“He is an intended runner in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. It was disappointing to see him fall at the Dublin Racing Festival. He had jumped grand up until then and it was a bit of an odd one as he only just overjumped the hurdle and managed to step on himself which got him unbalanced and gave JJ no chance of staying with him. While it isn’t ideal to go to Cheltenham off the back of that, we feel that the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is wide open and with his Flat class, he definitely deserves a shot at it.”
I had thought Facile Vega was nailed on, but I find it difficult to excuse his last run. Should he be worried Willie has other hot irons to pull from the fire and of them I like Gaelic Warrior, although he seems earmarked for the Ballymore . If he runs in this instead, it’ll say something about FV I think .
