I'm interested to hear who people are backing / are planning to back for the Ultima.

I'd be keen to oppose Jagwar at 5/1 but it is a tricky race. I like the look of Johnnywho at 14/1. Iroko holds an entry but you'd imagine he won't be pushed too hard as they clearly have the grand national in mind for him.

I like Herakles Westwood, trained by Warren Greatrex, for this, though he could run in the Fulke Walwyn/Kim Muir instead off 137. He's got plenty of stamina, likes soft ground, and has a 2nd this season on the Old course in an amateur riders' race plus a win on the New course on New Year's Day.

The Changing Man would have been another choice, but he's disappeared after finishing 3rd in the Coral Cup and isn't entered. Wendigo (147, Jamie Snowden ) would be interesting if running here instead of in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase.

Jagwar and Johnnywho can score me points in the Ten to Follow competition instead.

I've done Hyland 33/1.

I think Herakles Westwood would be better off in the Kim muir.

The Changing Man is out for the season.
