When I click on Google through my favourites, or when I type the address in, I get the "File Download" box - you know, the one that says: "Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or if you do not fully trust the source, do not open or save this file."

The file listed is google, from www.google.com. Then there are the "Open", Save", "Cancel" and "More Info" boxes to click. If I click on "Open" I get the dropdown menu asking me what file i want to open it with - which, of courser, is a nonsense. I have no clue what to do and find that telliong it rather loudly that "it's a website not a ******* file you ******* idiot" doesn't work.

Please, does anyone have any idea what is going on and what I can do about it?

Sounds dodgy Brian. I'm certainly not getting it when I call up the google page so it's not a page error.

First of all I would clear your browser's cache.

Tools > Internet Options and delete everything you can find.

If the problem still occurs, then it sounds like your browser has been hijacked. Try running an anti-spyware programme like ad-aware or hijack-this.

Of course it could also have been a Google problem - when this place went down last week, exactly the same thing occurred (as you describe here) when trying to load the page.
