Pope John Paul who has been an icon to people of all faiths and also a champion of those of no faith will be buried on 8th April . Should the "Royal wedding " take a back seat ?
Regardless of media coverage, would it not be seen as a huge faux pas for the future head of the CoE to go ahead with his already controversial wedding on the same day as the Pope's funeral?
Fair do's Jon , you got me but I'm not a royalist at the best of times , I don't mind the monarchy as long as they earn their keep but I would rather watch Coronation Street than Charles and Camilla personally seeing as neither as happy in the limelight after all .Don't get me wrong , I think the Queen does marvellous work and I have great respect for her .
Given the recent turn of events I can't see how bbc could justify showing their wedding over the funeral of John Paul . Who has contributed more to our society ? and who will be missed more?
There's scope for all to be televised, even tho the non-event wedding is by far the least important.
I don't need to watch His Holiness's funeral and I probably won't - it might be too emotional for me. (The eye-contact he made with my mother when he visited Scotland lived with her to her dying breath.)
Brian, I got threatened with the sack on the day of Diana's funeral! I was working in a chip shop at the time and the owner closed it for the day. I asked if I was still going to get paid. He wasn't happy when I said "But I didn't kill her!!"
Charlie's date selection leaves a lot to be desired. If you remember Charles & Diana were married on Sussex Stakes day and The Queen kept everyone waiting at the Palace while she watched King's Lake hose up
I was working in London at the time that Diana died.I missed work on the Monday due to a large amount of alcohol that weekend. When I reappeared on Tuesday a)nobody seemed to have noticed my absence on the Monday and b)the main topic of conversation was Diana died but was that a good enough reason to cancel the Eastenders omnibus.
