While we agonize over sending home the odd illegal, Saudi Arabia has rounded up 420 Nigerians who've overstayed their visas, bunged them on a Saudia flight to Nigeria, and dropped them home. No fuss, no muss.
A spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior said that they'd come for the Hajj (holy pilgrimage to Makkah) or for short-term contract work, 'overstayed', and were now being returned home. Simple!
Incidentally, looking most days at the Arab News website, it seems that the Saudi police and army are working very well in rooting out Al-Queda cells in the country recently. There have been a number of armed shoot-outs, with the forces winning the battles, with now dozens of wannabe terrorists either shot, captured, or fleeing across the border back to Yemen (which stills hosts them). We may think that only the USA and the UK are concerned about cleaning up the remnants of Osama bin Laden's gang, but the problem is still very much alive and kicking elsewhere.
