Hard to argue with 180 for Don
That Melling Chase was a masterpiece.

Indeed though it may flatter him a few pounds. What is better is the clutter of young horses 165 to 172.
It makes for a lot of competitive racing for future seasons hopefully.
That a 168 horse can be Horse of The Year is good news also.

The Faugheen rating may be a touch conservative compared to Don Cossack as he looks to be more superior to his hurdling rivals than DC is to his chasing rivals in what we have seen all season imo.
The time/figures men probably disagree .

I think Don should be a few lbs less but that's nitpicking.

The 167 rated champagne fever definitely not one that I'd want running with my money.

Agree with edgt fully on his point about Faugheen being far superior to his peers than Don Cossack

Amazing run by Faugheen in the CH. For a horse that stays 3m, to do what he did off a steady early pace marks him as potentially the best hurdler we've seen in quite a while.
The Punchestown GC didn't prove near as attritional as the Cheltenham version, and Djakadam and RTR probably ran below that form as a consequence. That Cue Card was still there at the death (over 3m 1f) entirely supports that view.
Wouldn't have Don Cossack more than a couple of pounds superior to the other pair, and with some doubt about his ability to see out the CGC trip.

I think 180 is fine for Don Cossack, but he needs those Aintree conditions to achieve that and he's not a Cheltenham horse.

I also think the Don is couple of lbs higher than he should be, but it's right he's top of the pile

Why is More of That still the 2nd highest rated hurdler?

It was a mighty effort to give 7lbs to Annie Power in last years stayers. Even Ruby couldn't believe she got beat.

Your OR goes up with one reasonable run. It can take several runs before it goes down.

In defence of the rating, a couple of weeks before Cheltenham Ruby nominated More Of That as the one of AP's rides that he would like to pinch and, amongst all the other bits and pieces, AP nominated the same horse as the one that gave him the most regret about retiring. 16/1 available for next year's RSA.
