Watching it again, I think you have to look at Geraghty's tactics. It looked to me like he realised Sanctuaire was going too fast and allowed him to open up a gap, at the same time getting a breather into Sprinter Sacre. It was clear approaching the Pond Fence that Sanctuaire had run out of gas, at which point he started easing down the winner with everything else well beaten off.

Kumbeshwar came into the race on an OR of 143 but I had him closer to 150. He got a canny ride today, allowing the front two to do their thing and putting daylight between himself and the others when it became clear that the runner-up spot was coming up for grabs. I wouldn't be surprised if he ran somewhere in the low 150s.

Sprinter Sacre gave him a 17lbs beating, plus the colossal amount he appeared to have in reserve. That would probably take him into 170 territory (which I had him on last year, again with '++').

I hope they let him do a Dessie and give weight away in a valuable handicap.

5 + 3 = ?
