I was interested to see Mr Blair boasting during his conference speech of the 19 year old who said that the anti-social behaviour order placed upon him had changed his life and that he wanted to vote for Tony Blair to thank him .

When asked why he could not, he stated that his ASBO banned him from the school grounds and therefore the polling station .

It is unfortunate that both the Prime Minister and the 19 year old are not aware of the law . Section 1(10) Crime and Disorder Act 1998 provides that it is a defence to a charge that you have broken any of the prohibitions in the ASBO that you have a reasonable excuse .

Whether voting for this Labour Government is a reasonable excuse is a question that I wish a court had been required to answer !
 
Why keep a dog and bark yourself? Some smart arse lawyer(s) has(ve) failed to tell them about that get out clause in the law. They are ones who should get a bollocking.
 
Yes, but these days he has a bit more on his plate than watching the ink dry on law books and analysing every piece of legislation in a courtroom. He has paid lawyers advising him and you know it. Once again you are arguing the cheat to suit your ill thought out criticism of the best Prime Minister this country has ever had.

Then he should have checked with those lawyers that the stories were right . Then again if he did so from my experience of Home Office lawyers the fact they got it wrong is no surprise.
 
Not at all -he still ought to have some idea of one of his flagship laws . It is a worrying illustration of a politician having a limited understanding of the law he passed .
