Ardross, you just don't get it do you? The last person that Labour will want to be leading the Tories against them in the next election is David Cameron, the Blair clone.

an capall - Cameron is a certainty.

10/1 is available for Liam Fox. Fox picked up as many votes as he did because of tactical voting by the "ABC" (anyone but Clarke) brigade and you can have 10/1 about him.

An interesting thing is that since the Tories started voting for their leader (in 1965) the original favourite has never won!

There can be a danger with the tactical voting, though. In 1975 they had an expendable "stalking horse", intended to fatally wound Ted Heath and to clear the way for Willie Whitelaw and others (the system was different then). Things didn't work out as planned and the stalking horse won the first ballot 130 to 119, then went on to beat Whitelaw 146 to 79 in the final ballot. The name of this tacticallly chosen candidate was Margaret Hilda Thatcher.

Very surprised Clarke got 38 votes, or why he threw his hat into the ring, like entering Desert Orchid for the next Gold Cup, his time has gone.

I wouldn't say Cameron was a certainty but I'd not back against him.

Mainly to Cameron, without a doubt. The last two remaining are then the candidates from whom the 300,000 party members will choose in mid-November. Cameron was way ahead in the polls the last time members were canvassed.
