Horse Racing Ireland and The Tote have joined together to form the Tote Go Racing Club, to encourage new and regular racegoers to enjoy all the excitement of the races with many additional exclusive benefits.

It is FREE to join the Tote Go Racing Club and the benefits of membership are considerable, starting with €180 worth of free admissions to 12 race meetings in May and June.

The first free race day for Club members is at Kilbeggan's very popular Saturday evening meeting on 15th May. Then, the next day at Limerick on Sunday 16th May, as well as gaining free entry, club members will have access to a private facility with complimentary tea and coffee. On this Sunday, the Club will also be hosting the first of its exclusive stable visits, to Michael Hourigan's yard. The free admission days for Club members also include the first Classic meeting of the year at the Curragh racecourse on Saturday 22nd May, featuring the Abu Dhabi 2000 Irish Guineas.

Please refer to the website www.totegoracingclub.com for full details, while the principal benefits of membership are also listed on the attached flyer. http://www.totegoracingclub.com/hri/pics/hri/tgrc/Tote_Go_Racing_Club_DL_Leaflet.pdf

Existing Tote Account holders will automatically become a member of the Tote Go Racing Club and therefore do not need to register again as their existing Tote account cards can be used on days when offers apply. New members wishing to join the Club do not have to sign up for a Tote Account, but they will then miss out on the added benefits of the free and discounted Tote bets.

Jason Morris, HRI's Director of Racing said: "HRI is delighted to be linking with the Tote to launch the new Tote Go Racing Club, and we are very grateful for the support that we have received from the racecourses for this initiative. Membership of the Club is free and the objective is simple - to encourage both regular and less frequent racegoers to go racing more often, whilst also providing greater access to the sport through informative newsletters and exclusive opportunities to see behind behind the scenes. The Tote will also be offering significant incentives for anyone opening a new account, as well as to their existing clients."

Dryden Geary, PR/Marketing Manager of the Tote said: - “I'm very pleased to announce that all Tote account holders are automatically members of the new Tote Go Racing Club. We are excited to work with HRI and all the participating racecourses in rewarding loyal Irish racegoers. As part of the new initiative we will be giving members bet discounts and free bets during the year. The club will aim to introduce new users to Tote betting and our exotic bets such as the Jackpot, Placepot, Exacta and new Trifecta which we are introducing in June."

So, if you're a member of the Tote (it doesn't say Irish-based Tote), you're automatically a member and therefore eligible for all of the goodies? As you say, Arkers, it'd be great to be able to take advantage of the meetings and tours, but I guess you can take up all the other offers here in the UK. That's really super - perhaps it will be rolled out fully to the UK if it takes off well in Ireland.

You can join Tote-Ireland even if you're UK based Kri. I've got an account with them which I use primarily for backing horses in France on the PMU.

This really is a savage initiative. Free entry to a Classic is not to be sniffed at.

Particularly like the idea of sending out the newsletters twice a week. Anything that can be done to keep racing on people's minds can only be a good thing.

It does make you wonder why anyone would become a member of a track. Take Leopardstown. Free in on last day of Christmas Festival. Free in on Sunday. Punchestown free in on last day of Festival. These tracks would want to be careful as the members provide them with a base of income i.e. 2o0 members in Leopardstown paying €200 a piece is €40k. Yet two free days anyway and likely to be one or two more before the year is out.

There's still that old thing of brand loyalty, isn't there? You love a certain course and if the membership offers you a number of special amenities - members' car park, members' bar (or at worst shared with OTs), free race cards, free reciprocal meetings with other courses, possibly even free tea/coffee/biscuits, discounts off meals, outings, etc., then you don't see the need to change.

Visited Kildangan Stud before racing yesterday. Raven's Pass, Cape Cross and Shamardal were paraded for the group. Four yearlings were also brought out, including a Ravan's Pass colt out of a daughter of Miesque and a Street Cry colt out of Urban Sea' daughter Melikah.

A very interesting morning and a thank you to those who organised it.

Racing Offers this Winter

There are four FREE race meetings to avail of this festive season when you show your Tote card at the turnstiles.

1. Fairyhouse, Saturday 3rd December. 1st race is off at 12.20pm.
Get free entry to Fairyhouse this Saturday for the first day of their new 'Premier Jump Racing Weekend'. The €37,500 Bar One Racing Handicap Hurdle (1.50pm) is the most valuable contest on the card and leading owner JP McManus looks to have a strong hand with five of his string set to line-up. Morning Ireland is arguably the pick of that quintet for Christy Roche and Alan Crowe who teamed up to win the Ladbrokes.com Troytown Chase at Navan last weekend with Groody Hill.

2. Limerick, Wednesday 28th December. 1st race is off at 12.30pm.
Head to the third day of the Limerick Christmas festival for more top racing action. The stakes are high off the track for the best dressed lady competition.

3. Leopardstown, Thursday 29th December. 1st race is off at 12.30pm approximately.
Get set to witness the speediest and slickest hurdlers around, and some of the prime Champion Hurdle contenders pitch up on the last day of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.

4. Tramore, Saturday 31st December. First race is off at 12.15pm approximately.
End the year on a high with an excellent days racing at Tramore on New Years' Eve.
