I have my tickets for Barcelona concert.
It was difficult to buy them but I hope the concert worth it.

Anybody going?

New York, New York but will be in Mandalay Bay much of the time. I usually stay at the Bellagio but this is a sort of conference trip. I want to check out Steve Wynn's new Wynn Las Vegas too.

Suny - when is the tour? Are they playing further south - Madrid, or Malaga? I saw Coldplay in Madrid 2 years ago & they were superb - the venue was fantastic too. I would give my right arm to see U2 live!

Think this is as near as they will get to you SL

August:

7: Barcelona - Olympic or FC Barc
9: San Sebastian - Anoeta Stadium
11: Madrid - Calderon
14: Lisbon - Alvalade

Would love to have gone see them, and Snow Patrol are their supporting act here in Ireland as well. What a night it would be.

Crikey, Aidan - you're right, that would be awesome! I'll go online tomorrow or Sunday when I'm sober & try to book tickets.

Cheers DG for those - Madrid is good for me, I can get the train up & it's an amazing city.

Wait until you see the price of the U2 tickets. I hope you have a healthy heart. :D

Funny you should mention that Phil...aaccording to the healthcheck I had a t work a couple of weeks ago, I do!!!!

I tried to get tickets for the Barcelona or Madrid gig but as Suny said it was chaos. My boss was telling me he saw them when they played in the canteen of the local institute of technology(1978 I think).More people claim to have been at that gig then people who claimed to have been in the GPO in 1916.

Yes Luke

It was a chaos
some friends of mine were able to take 18 tickets, the pity is that I have to go to Barcelona, I would have prefered to go to the Madrid concert.

The U2 tour has a very good look, in fact I think this one is the best group in many years.

Anyone who has any passion for music and who actually goes beyond the charts and tabloid newspapers in the hope of finding good bands will realise that u2 are just a mundane rock band, nothing more, nothing less. There are far far superior outfits out there if people would only look.

I'd like to have seen U2 on the same stage as The Clash at their best, and then to have seen U2 whistling off over the horizon after 10 minutes.

I did see U2 at Live Aid but they did nothing at all for me.

'Do They Know It's Christmas' is the best U2 song!

But they do have a massive following so I must be missing something here.

I'd love to see your "alleged" evidence/rumour/hearsay for that one simmo.

Euronymous - as someone who does go beyond the charts and tabloids for his music, I still think U2 are one of the best bands out there. How does that work?

That has been a fairly common rumour for the past 20 odd years Gareth. I do not have any specific evidence to support it, but nor do I have any evidence to suggest that it is untrue. And given Bono's ridiculous current public face and his overtly political standpoint's on various issues, I would suggest that the balance of probability swings towards the possibility that in their younger days, they may indeed have given support to a political cause which they felt to be just.

Like the time (as seen in Rattle & Hum) where he lambasted the IRA and those who fund them?

"I'm sick of Irish Americans, who haven't been home in twenty or thirty years, come up to me and tell me about the glory of the revolution. The glory of dying for the revolution. F*** the revolution. Where's the glory in dragging a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and children? Where's the glory in that? Where's the glory in bombing old age pensioners as part of a remembrance day parade, their medals polished up for the day? Where's the glory in that?"

Sounds like a terrorist supporter to me!

Thanks for being so patronising, Euronymous.....you're damn right, I only listen to music from people who have been photographed in the Sun or have competed in Pop Idol.....do me a favour, will you?

As for Simmo's comment, doesn't wash I'm afraid - that's a potentially libellous comment & just because it's been reporeted in the press doesn't make it true!

In my view, U2 are a fantastic band - they have been at the top of their game for 25 years & are still producing damn good music - the traits of a mundane band?! I'd like to see how many of the so-called "superior outfits" will still be successful in 25 years......
