Very quiet week and not a great deal on the (my) horizon either. The lousy weather is an added complication as well. Two I’ve been waiting for, though, and both double booked.

Fall of Rome

Although a losing favourite he ran a nice race at Ascot on soft over 5 fur. My notes:

Outpaced as the race developed he was sharing last by three lengths with a furlong to go,but he came through strongly leaving all but the smart winner - Go Bear Go - in his wake. He needs another furlong?

Entered Friday at Goodwood over 6 fur with Buick pencilled in.
And entered Saturday at Newmarket again over 6 fur with James Doyle.

The Rosstafarian

Did well after being baulked in the Craven. My notes:

Slowly into stride, in rear, short of room 4f out, switched left and pushed along on outer over 2f out, stayed on from over 1f out (op 18/1 tchd 11/1). Raced in rear, but baulked twice by winner (see below) and still last at the furlong marker, made up a lot of late ground to finish 6l fifth running the last furlong faster than all but the winner. Pretty sure he’ll do better.

Entered Saturday at Haydock and also at the Curragh (Irish 2000)
