I need to get one of these as the USB ports are on the side of my screen & getting access is awkward due to the side of my desk, anything I should be looking for when buying?

If it makes a difference I have windows 8 & Samsung touchscreen pc (no tower)

What are you going to be plugging in, if you dont need a powered one the poundshops usually have the non powered ones in that work fine

Nothing I would class as a big power user, its mainly to charge things up like my blackberry, fitbit, I have an iPad mini but tend to charge that via a wall plug,

I must admit I don't like Windows 8, I don't really use the touchscreen even though it is an all in one pc but when I went looking for a new pc last year this one was the one I liked the look of!

No - it's only bus powered (meaning it draws power from the laptop or computer it is connected to). This means the devices you connect have to share the power which is essentially coming from a single USB port on a computer. So if you are trying to charge different devices at the same time there won't be enough power available.

Something like this might work (also a bigger 7 port model availble).

It all depends on how much current each of your devices will draw - this has a dedicated charging port which provide 2.1A. Each of the USB 3.0 only provides 0.9A. If the current isn't high enough some devices will actually lose power as they are consuming more than they are receiving.

I think 2.1A is probably enough for most devices though am not totally sure.

Thanks FU, bought that one & arrived this morning, charging everything very well

Cheers for all the advice
