I see the old warrior will race once more at Punchestown and then be retired for good.

Hope he comes out sound and healthy and enjoys a long retirement.

It was good to see him so well this season and he looked terrific at Cheltenham, even if he didn't stand much of a chance against Big Buck's.

Lovely horse, but real shame he's not running in the Grand National because of his trainer's ego.

Seeing him winning graded hurdle races has been one of the best points of the NH season.

Re-read the thread on the Grand National.

Mouse made an absolute fool of himself by misunderstanding the weights. War of Attrition is on a more than fair mark, but there is only 1 reason he is not running.

War of attrition is certainly not lumped with weight.

Ah you're right, it was Irish Invader I was thinking of. He got lumped with weight didn't he?

Mullins was of the opinion (probably fairly given how far he was beaten) that Irish Invader wasn't well in relative to Mon Mome.

Personally think he had a cracking chance had they ridden him with more restraint - he was up there with them until 3f from the finish and IIRC ran very freely.

The horse has thoroughly vindicated the decision of connections to bring him back. As they clearly know the horse well, they went through the right process and have managed to give racing fans plenty of entertainment this year. Well done to all.
