As the building was built by Wimpey, it is covered under an NHBC Buildmark warranty.

The potential problem lies in the fact that for the period from 3-10 years, the Buildmark warranty will only cover the cost of rectification if it comes to over £732. A figure which they claim to be index linked from the £500 which it was when the house was built five years ago. I am unable to locate any index which would take that amount over circa £630, so presumably the index is one which they make up themselves on an arbitrary basis from year to year.

I am still awaiting the Claims Investigator's estimate of cost on which they will decide whether to pay up or not and have decided to hold off from contacting any CEO's unless they refuse to pay up.

I would however, be extremely interested to know how they come to the conclusion that cement washing away due to excessive quantities of sand somehow becomes my fault after 2 years.

The funding question was to establish which points I should be making to whom and to confirm a suspected link between the two. Brian's answer is pretty much what I had thought it would be.

Cheers again for the help!  :D
