I know absolutely bugger-all about these, so please don't laugh.

If I purchased a pair of web-cams, one for us and one for my daughter who is teaching in the Falkland Islands would we be able to communicate with her with vision over the internet?

I would be grateful for any input.

Cheers

There are lots to choose from go to dixons or pc world depends what you want to pay. I am on msn and so is my brother you just log in and click webcam it sends the message to the other recipient and if they agree to chat a small screen comes up and away you go. I know this may be obvious but you will also need a small microphone.

They're all pretty much of a muchness, Colin. They're pretty cheap too - you can pick them up from around £15.

As your daughter is in the Falklands, I'd strongly recommend using Skype. Skype If you buy a headset (from as little as £8 in Tesco) you can talk to her using the net (it'll be like using the phone) & you won't pay anything other than your broadband connection. The sounds quality is pretty clear & it is a great way to keep in touch. It is free to register & free to use.
