Although this needs to be a 'quiet' time , given that it's notoriously difficult to make profits at this time of year, I have one that I'll be focussing on today:
Rizg - 5.00 Kempton 11/1 Ew
I've asked myself why on earth I shouldn't back this today and can find no reason not to bet. This gelding is very lightly raced and has shown form that gives him a great chance here. I noted him at Newcastle in June where he was mullered in running but ran on to give notice of something on the horizon. I did wonder whether this was a (excellent) prep for the Stewards Cup but he didn't go in that and they have kept him quiet in the meantime. This season he's only had four runs so will be as fresh as paint for this. Last time out looked like just a prep, to me. Held up up in the last two, he had a big job to catch the leaders but made a little late headway to finish seventh..
He's dropped down the weights considerably, hasn't he? That Newcastle run was off 96 and here we are, four runs later, and he's down to 82. Surely, given his profile and my initial notes in June, he must have a monster Ew chance. Nicely drawn, he's a goer, don't you think?
